The Isle of Wight is situated just a few miles off mainland UK and The Montpelier is situated in one of the finest positions in Sandown on the Isle of Wight, opposite the glorious sandy beach and Sandown Pier and just around the corner from Sandown High Street with it's many cafes, restaurants and gift shops.. The Montpelier is the ideal base for your stay on the Isle of Wight. We are on steps away from Sandown Bay's six miles of glorious sandy beaches, which is a haven for all and is safe for bathing at all times and Sandown Pier with it's amusements, kiddies rides, Jurassic golf and neon bowling, fun for all the family.

We now have a live webcam, with streaming video looking down Pier Street to the entrance of Sandown Pier and the beach, it runs 24 hrs , 7 days a week, check it out by clicking on the button on the left. When the webcam screen comes up at the top of the page a box appears that will ask if you want to use activeX click yes and download the plugin that allows you to view the webcam.

	Sandown Bay can proudly boast of success for all ages and is a regular holder of the UK sunshine record and the blue ribbon award making it one of the cleanest beaches in the UK. Long walks can be enjoyed from the Montpelier, along coastal paths or into the countryside, where there are over 500 miles of clearly marked walks. A holiday on the Isle of Wight can be as interesting, relaxing or active as you make it and at the Montpelier we will help you make the most of your stay on the Island. Weathermen predict warm dry summer

Stay-at-home Brits could be basking in warm and dry summer this year, according to weathermen.

Met Office forecasters said it was "odds-on for a barbecue summer" with warmer than average temperatures and near or below-average rainfall.

And that will come as music to the ears of the millions that have chosen to holiday in the UK.

Ewen McCallum, chief meteorologist at the Met Office, said: "After two disappointingly wet summers, the signs are much more promising this year.

"We can expect times when temperatures will be above 30C, something we hardly saw at all last year."

The Met Office said that while there may be showers, a repeat of the miserable summers of 2007 and 2008 is unlikely.
